Too Exhausted?!?!

Okay, so I was grinding in the snake cave level 1 before I went down to face the vipers to collect snakeskins... and as I was running around, I found a sword in the ground. Feanor just says "Maybe I'm too exhausted..." swings his sword and then does NOT pick up the item. It's not a mob drop, it's a map generated item (kinda like wells, treasure chests, etc).

What I've tried:
Healing up fully (both by potions and by resting)
Leveling up
Dropping items (just to see maybe if I'm holding too much "heavy" stuff)
Picking up enemy drops (I can still pick up sundur, potions, and gold just fine)
Using Green and Yellow potions (I know it was a long shot but I had to try something!)

If any of you know how to get around this, post as quickly as possible! I've already saved my game but by any random chance if someone calls me or the game crashes, I will not be able to get this item back!

Currently, 16 str, 17 con, 18 dex (+3 from pet owl), 16 agi

I googled it, and it turns out you can't pick things up if they are too high levelled for you...

Which makes me wonder, WHAT EXACTLY WAS THAT ITEM? Since I wasn't doing a teleport trick to try to get higher level items... I could easily kill the bats and snakes in the cave, so the items there should have been around my level...

Oh well. I died while typing a post and the item is gone forever. The next time I found an item in the snake cave it was a short sword Mad
